OnPage Search Engine Optimization Techniques

Email Marketing is the king of advertising in online marketing but the effect of spam filters and volume emailers has certainly put a damper on the reach it once had. This has forced online marketers to reach deep and learn new methods of online marketing. Search Engine Optimization has moved to the forefront of many online marketers advertising plans.

Search Engine Optimization is the art of designing your web pages to be ranked high by search engines for keywords that you target. There are several methods and they vary from Search Engine to Search Engine. One aspect of Search Engine Optimization relays heavily on the Onpage Optimization.

Onpage Optimization deals with the placement of keywords on the page, the header tags, the appearance of the keywords and the use of keywords in the meta and alt tags on the page. Below are some tips on OnPage optimization that I have picked up and used in my own web sites.

Step1: Select a page title that only includes your keywords.

Step 2: Use Header Tags to emphasize the keywords you have selected. Use your number 1 keyword in the H1 tag and secondary keywords in your H2 header tags.

Step 3: Write solid content that naturally includes your main and your secondary keywords throughout the text. If possible use your first keyword as near the top of the content and as close to the bottom of the content as possible.

Step 4: Once the content is complete go through and randomly bold, italicize and underline the main and secondary keywords.

Step 5: Be sure to use your keywords in the alt tags of your images.

As a guide you might do a search for you main keyword in Google. View the page and the source code of the page to see what OnPage Optimization that webmaster did to get a top rank.

While OnPage Optimization can be a significant reason why your web site ranks well in the search engine there are several other key factors like, page content, link popularity, site indexing and competition.

Search Engine Optimization is an equal opportunity marketing practice. If you are diligent you can create a flood of prime targeted.

2 is better than 1 and 6 -10 is better than 2

One thing I have learned in internet marketing is you better have more than 1 income stream or you can kiss you butt goodbye.

I learned this in a big way about 5 years ago. In 1997 I started learning the ropes of internet marketing and made a few dollars here and there. Wrote a newsletter, wrote a training course. In the old days of SFI I helped develop their flagship product Full Circle Success. I had my ducks in a row. 3 streams of income coming in. My bank account was golden.

I few years later I started working with a partner in the lead generation arena. I plunged all my energy into that company and started to let my other stream of income dwindle until they were not even generating enough money to buy a "Big Mac" at McDonalds. I was still flying high until the worse case scenario happened.

In one swoop a group of brilliant but hugely mis guided individuals struck our web server hosting facility. They destroyed our database of close to 2 million leads. Our customer database of over 1000 customers and our programming. In the process they also took out the web site and databases of 9 other poor schmucks. Plus these guys were so smart that they started corrupting the backups before they took the whole system down.

I could have died. I just purchased our new farm, our family income was depending largely on my income and whamo I had no business left. My husband was standing outside my office door when the news came over the telephone. He didn't quite grasp the concept of the server being hacked. The tears started to roll down my face knowing that a hacked server was similar to a office building getting burned to the ground.

I said the business is gone and I would not be able to make the mortgage payments. He said, "You don't have a choice." Seems sort of harsh. Isn't a husband supposed to console you when your down. Not in our case. He knew what I had done to start my internet marketing success. He knew that if I gave up at that moment I would never find success again. He knew how to push my buttons to piss me off just enough to get me started again.

Within the hour I had a partial customer list. The phone was hot from the conference calls with programmers, lead suppliers and bankers. Within 1 month the company was operating at break even. With in 3 - 6 months we were turning a profit.

You've come this far so I better tell you what you should learn from the tale of woe.

1. Keep more than one stream of income going at all times. The Internet is a fickle place. It changes fast and moves quickly. What is hot today could be gone tomorrow.

2. Backups and Security are crucial to your web based business. If you get wiped out by a virus or a hosting provider it is your own darn fault. Back up once, twice, thee times if you feel better. Your web host is your life.

3. Keep your head above water. You will ride many, many waves in the internet marketing game. I think that's what attracts me to it in some sick way. I can go from making nothing one week to cutting a deal for $10,000 the next week. You are going to get kicked in the teeth my more than one venture. The key is to keep moving forward as long as you do that you will continuously run into new opportunities.

Have You Done Your Cultivating Today?

I grew up on a farm, moved to the big city, if there is such a thing in Nebraska, only to come home and marry the farmer 13 miles up the road from where I grew up. I know a thing or to about cultivating. To the non-agriculture readers cultivate on the farm means to go out into the field and run a machine through it to remove all the weeds and debris from the corn rows. This allows the corn to get all the nutrients that it needs to grow, so that when harvest comes around we have the best yield we can get.

Today was a cultivating day. My office was so stacked with crap, I could barely find the keyboard. I finally had to sit down and clear it out so that I could focus on the work that needed to be done.

Then I proceeded to look out the office door only to realize that the rest of the house was nearly as bad. I needed a machete to cut through the clutter just to find the kids.

Once the house was clean I noticed my 3 kids needed some extra tending so I shut off the phone and heaven forbid hit the power button on the computer. We played some games and even watched a movie.

Then I laid down for a long over due nap.

Work at home moms and dads need to take some time to cultivate something other than their work if they plan to be productive. Going 9 - 0 on the business, the house and the kids all at the same time will eventually take over your productivity. Your focus will be come skewed and you will begin to work more with less output. I bet that the moms and dads that are reading this can relate to these words.

We need to be reminded to stand back and cultivate the important things in life every so often and you will see a greater yield. Do you need to cultivate today?

A New Site is Born

I wrote this article to promote my new site.

A Review of Ecoquest Air Purifiers

Ecoquest markets a product developed by Alpine industries. The Ecoquest Air Purifier comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. Their middle sized unit is called the Breeze AT. The next size up is the Classic and their new flagship product is the Fresh Air.

The prices for the Ecoquest Air Purifiers range from $400 to close to $900. This seems like an outrageous amount for an air purifier until you compare a few key options.
Just one Ecoquest Air Purifier can purify the air in a home or office up to 3000 square foot. Some name brand competitors can only purify rooms of 100 to 300 square foot at an average cost of about $200 per unit. You may need more units at a cost of $200 per unit to actually clean the air in your whole house compared to one Ecoquest unit that can do the whole house.

Applications of an Ecoquest Air Purifiers meet or exceed those of other name brand air purifiers according to my own personal test and those of 2 of my assoicates. The Ecoquest Air Purifiers remove toxic mold and mildew, eliminate dust mites, remove toxic odors, eliminate bad odors and reduce allergens in the air like pollen as wells as eliminating second hand smoke.

In my home application I put the Ecoquest Air Purifier into a room with 2 pieces of antique furniture that I purchased at an auction. To my dismay I found out after the pieces were delivered that they came from a home littered with too many cats. The furniture had a terrible odor from cat urine. A friend suggested I take the Ecoquest Air Purifier into the room, shut the door and let it run on full blast for a day or two. At this point I was willing to try anything to salvage my furniture. After 3 days the antiques stopped smelling and were moved into my home.

Another friend of mine had 3 name brand air purifiers in their tiny 1000 square foot home. They tried an Ecoquest Air Purifier and expressed to me their immediate satisfaction. Their house no longer sounded like a wind tunnel. Their daughter who suffers from terrible allergies was sleeping easier at night. The name brand units were put into the garage and they gladly paid the premium price for the Ecoquest Unit.

Another associate has expressed to me that they can’t live without their Ecoquest Air Purifier. She suffered from migraines. Her children suffered from allergies and her husband snored so loudly that it kept her awake at night. Upon installing the unit and adjusting the settings she found that after a week the children were no longer on allergy medications, her husband’s snoring had stopped and she had not had a migraine since the unit was installed.

There is a school of thought that the ozone technology used in the machine could be harmful but that theory has not been proven. All in all if you weigh the pros being top air purification and odor elimination vs the cons being the price of the unit I think the Ecoquest Air Purifier is a valid option for home air purification.

Charity Adams has developed a complete web site on the benefits of air purifiers. Find numerous reviews, comparisons, informational articles and links to resources on air purifiers and air purification at 1stairpurifiers.com.

I Made a Big Link Mistake

My endeavor to learn SEO has become on journey with a ton of twists and turns. For instance I got my new site indexed by google in record time.

Then I proceeded to improve my page rank so I went on a inbound link campaign of posting on forums, writing articles and adding to this blog.

When you go to Google and search on http://news.mercurymessenger.biz you will see that my site is indeed listed. What you will not see is any inbound links despite my best efforts. You will see several sites that have the term http://news.mercurymessenger.biz in them.

I may have an answer for that but it will take a little time to test it out.

It seems that anchor links and urls are not one in the same. http://news.merucrymessenger.biz is hyperlinked however it is not anchor text.

So I am going to try this theory. I will hyperlink anchor text Mercury Messenger News and Fat Cat ROI Web Hosting. on this blog, in forums and in some articles I disperse today. In a couple of days I will be curious to see if there are incoming links to those sites.

Check back in a couple of days to see the results.

Shameless Self Promotion Should Be Priority 1

I am dinosaur in internet business. I have been out here making my living in cyberspace for nearly 8 years now. I bet you I have touched more than 10 million people in one way or another but I made a very huge mistake.

I hid in the anonymity of the internet. Skulking in forums, hiding out behind web sites and shadowed by joint venture partners.

What in the H E Double hockey sticks was I thinking. I should have been out there shamelessly promoting myself. Here's why:

1. Products come and go. As long as your heart is beating you will always be around. Think about it. My mentors: Willie Crawford, Shawn Casey, the late Corey Rudl and Joe Vitale are all names you may know or will know as you work your business on the internet. They have sold thousands of products. I can think of a few of the products they have promoted but no where near all of them. What is remembered is their names. The powerhouse marketers have branded themselves successful.

When Willie Crawford steps up to the plate and makes a post on one of my favorite internet marketing forums he has about 800 views instantly. Is it because you remember his product or do you recognize his name. His name of course. What ever Willie writes is solid gold no matter what it is. His posts are going to get a look. He will even get sales on his name power alone. Those sales perpetuate his success and the behemoth of his self promotion machine rolls on.

2. Success breeds followers. In my favorite forum someone asked if anyone was really getting rich working on the net. Answer: Heck yes. Some financially some in other ways. I took a chance and shared a little of my fortune. Working totally on the net for 8 years. Cracked the $100K mark per year a time or two. Never sent my kids to daycare one day of their lives. I live on an acreage I paid for and drive a fairly new car. Am I financially set for life. Probably not but I come and go when I please and I earn enough to live pretty comfortably. Simply sharing that success breed followers. I had emails asking me to be their mentor. If I had been sharing my success with others my email list would have exploded. My bank account would probably had flooded. Email list ceomom@getresponse.com

3. Average Joe makes good. The struggle is worth the fight. You might be average now but you are going somewhere good. Take some followers along for the ride. Those followers will build and grow and your urban legend will become the stuff that bank accounts are built on.

To your success

My Little Web Site is growing up

Recently I started a new article directory. A place for people to publisher their articles on any topic under the sun. I love to get up in the morning and check the stats to see if people are coming to the site.

Yes they are coming. Not in flocks mind you but they are coming. They are reading the articles and hopefully gaining some good information. They are posting fresh material.

So it should be a daily blog update to notify the world when new content hits the site.

Today we have a wonderful article on how to get rid of those pesky credit cards.

I know all about the darn things. 6 years ago after I started my lead business http://yourbestleads.com some naughty little teenages decided to come along and crash my dedicated server hosting company. They ruined every daily backup until they reach the end of the week then they pulled the plug. So none of of the backups were good and the site was gone.

I learned a valuable lesson about backing up. I learned another lesson about perserverance and I learned how to get myself into credit card debt.

Finanly 6 years later my lead business is back up on its feet making a regular income. My other ventures are coming along as well and I am nearly out of the credit card hole.

Take a minute to read our new authors views on getting out of credit card debt.

0 to Google in One Week

I started an experiment to see how fast I could get a site googled as a complete novice.

I read some great information on the warrior forum and set to work getting http://web-hosting.fatcatroi.com and http://news.mercurymessenger.biz indexed by google.

News.mercurymessenger.biz was indexed on November 2 about 1 week after the start of my experiment. Web-hosting.fatcatroi.com has yet to be listed but I just started that process a couple of days ago.

This is how it was done.
1. I set out to find a few places to swap links. Links directories, web site with similiar content etc. I found a couple and swapped links.

2. I started this blog and posted to it everyday. After posting I used http://pingoat.com to announce that site had been updated.

3. I submitted a couple of articles on a few articles web sites and forums.

4. I created some backlinks from a few sites that I have had forever.

That was it. The site is good because it has a ton of content. Which is in my understanding is what google wants to see.

My next challenge is to improve my page rank in google to actually get some good traffic from the indext.

My work is never done.

Family saftey day

I thought this was good enough for all of us parents.

Family safety is a great concern nowadays. Although having a firearm properly and safely stored is very good for your family safety, there are some that lack the basic rules of safety and storage. In order to educate communities, dealers are holding Family Safety Days at their gun shops. Remember that the main objective for this event is education ment to preserve family safety in the community, not shooting. However, if there are demands you can sponsor a shooting session afterwards. Pick a Saturday or a Sunday for you Family Safety Day. You can spread the word out by giving an event notice at the local news papers and by making flyers. The flyers don’t need to be artistically elaborated; just write there a simple announcement: “Family Safety Day at Bang-Bang Gun Shop”. At the event, offer lectures and instructions on firearm safety and try focusing on children. Only children accompanied by parents or an adult are allowed to attend. To guarantee your Family Safety Day success, try to arrange some local law officers to present the safety instructions. They have a very positive impact on children. That is because children watch very often cop movies and in their eyes those people appear like common day heroes. Keep you information about family safety very simple and basic and always repeat the fact that children should never be left alone with a gun. You could make something like “10 family safety rules” and this could be the first rule. You can purchase a banner with “Family Safety Day” to hang in front of your gun shop. It looks good and can be a great publicity for the event. If your budget permits, you can have items with “Family Safety Day” to give away. Most major manufacturers have T-shirts or hats as giveaways and they can send you those goods. At the end of the “Family Safety Day” event, you will begin to realize that you will not be just a firearm salesman, but the main source of gun safety education of your community. This article and one-way link advertisement provided by http://www.LinkAcquire.com. The writer of this fine article is David C Skul. Also you can find more about Family safety here http://www.isamericasafe.com/reports.htm.
